OCR Scanning and Data Extraction
A lightweight custom utility enabling bulk scanning and data extraction of critical business data
Challenge
Our client approached us with a curious challenge; they had been sent over 5000 poor-quality photocopied pages of billing data, which needed to be captured and analysed to meet a tight customer deadline.
Solution
Our developers responded quickly, building a simple desktop application which could scan the documents, carry out advanced OCR and then identify and extract key information to a spreadsheet.
Outcome
Not only did the app save 1000s of hours of staff manual processing time and enable our client to easily meet the deadline, but assisted by Revotek, further analysis of the timesheet data also enabled them in turn to save their customer over £50 million by identifying incorrectly billed charges.
